Blackball Fighter describe themselves as indie funk rock,
mixing synth atmospheres and effects with Led Zeppelin style riffs and
intelligent chemical beats. Anthemic vocals weave through the
atmospheric and driving soundscapes creating a unique, never before
heard, nu-indie sound.
Formed in 2005, the band members immediately moved into a converted
farmhouse buried deep in the countryside of County Down, and set about
writing no-nonsense upbeat and melodic indie funk rock tunes that felt good to play live. Influenced by a wide spectrum of music ranging from Chemical Brothers to Dream Theatre, and fuelled by the manic party atmosphere in the rock and roll house, the band developed a keen sense of style and dynamic that forged energetic and unforgettable live performances.
The
band's debut single FEVER
quickly became a favourite of listeners to independent online radio in
early 2007, and held the number one slot for four weeks on Revolution
Radio, London, UK.
The follow up single HELL
went straight into the Independent Irish Singles Chart at
number ten generating a frenzy of activity on the band's Myspace and
thousands of web hits.
