    Re: hello

Hi fella; well believe it or not this site was quite a hive of activity until a few months ago, but then it suddenly went a bit dead. Dunno why. It's a real shame 'cos there were some interesting things going on in the forums and a lot of rapport between members. Still, there IS some great music on the site, so it's well worth checking out. Maybe now that the nights are getting a bit darker and colder people will be getting back on site....here's hoping,   Anyway, welcome aboard, what's your story..????

    Re: hello

My story? Just a songwriter / producer, working at home with Cubase and a bunch of stuff recording ORIGINAL dancey type music. Recently compared to old school underground German techno haha. Check out www.reverbnation.com/markiegeeproductions

    One day..................

    Re: hello

One day indeed. I've been saying that fir thirty-five years, but i've never let a little thing like a lack of commercial success stop me.  I'm sure you don't need anyone to tell you how fickle the music business is so there's always a chance so keep on keepin' on.... Anyway, had a listen to your stuff and although it's not really my thing it's produced well enough although the two without lyrics are more difficult to guage. I know there are a lot of people out there into this kind of stuff and i'm sure you could make a few inroads given the exposure. Still, keep it up,...who knows,...might bump into you at the Mercury awards one of these days.................

    Re: hello

hey mate, thanks for listening to my stuff. Just 1 question, how do you mean the 2 without vocals are harder to gauge? Just to let you know, the 1 with the vocal was recorded in a pro studio with a pro producer, the other 2 was done by me alone on cubase in my bedroom and mixed on headphones!!! I agree the quality is different - is that what you mean? Thanks again.

    Re: hello

Hi; what I mean is that, as I understand it, you intend to put a vocal track on both the others. That could have a huge effect on the finished track. Subject matter, delivery and melody can change the entire perception as I'm sure you're aware, so as I say, it's difficult to form an accurate opinion in it's present form.  It's no reflection on the quality of the recording. Perhaps the first track sounds a little more 'polished', but the the others sound fine. Incidentally, I actually prefer recordings made at home, ( I do all mine in the garage). I find they have a more organic sound/feel to them. Pro studios are all fine and dandy, but they can sound a bit sterile and processed. Thankfully, these days it's possible to get a very respectable sound on your own turf. All it takes is a bit of patience, a reasonable rig and most important, a good pair of ears.  Clearly you have all these so there's nothing to hold you back.

    Re: hello

Thanks mate, I appreciate your views - all feedback is most definitely welcome! I agree with what you are saying and thankfully work begins this saturday on my very own 'studio' in the back garden! Just a single room, which will be acoustically treated and designed with noise in mind, so hopefully the fruits of my labours will materiallise. Cant wait - it's like being a kid at christmas :-)

     And wheres everyone else?????

    Re: hello

Cheers Mon Ami;  you're very welcome. It's good to have a bit of a chat with someone. As for everyone else,.....I've no idea where they all are.  Like I said, a few months back the old forums were buzzin' with all kinds of threads, but now..............???   Anyway, hope all goes well with the new studio. Once it's up and running I'm sure you'll be crackin' 'em out like a man possessed. I look forward to picking up on the harvest............In the meantime try checking out some of the tracks on site. There's some excellent stuff. I suggest you have a listen to Rob Colley, you might find it of interest. He's a classical pianist with a flair for esoteric dance grooves............best o' luck....

    Re: hello

mmm.. I been watching this thread with interest. Herbie's right, the site was buzzing a few months back but it has obviously died a death since the competition I would say. I have it on good authority that the site is being relaunched. I know Ma has posted in the past to inform us of the changes to be made but I find it a tad strange that no announcements have been made in the forums lately to let the excellent musicians who have taken the time to post their wares know what the future holds for gobusker. In the meantime all we can do is watch the tumbleweed I'm afraid! Welcome aboard markie, and keep checking out the site!
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it.

    Re: hello

Hi there jon; good to see you back in the forums. I still can't quite figure out what's going on here... I can understand the sudden extra flurry of activity we had building up to the competition and equally a bit of fall off afterwards, ( by the opportunists who were only interested in winning the dosh) but I would have thought that the regulars would have continued with the banter as usual. That doesn't seem to have happened which is a shame and frankly a bit disappointing. Still, there have been some great new tracks posted on the site, but again people seem very reluctant to make any comments about them and to me that's the real value of a site like this. LL made a brief re-appearance a while ago, but he seems to have gone awol again. I think you're right re updates on what's in the pipeline for the site. It would be nice to know what we can expect in the future.  So, me old China, seems like it's just me and you keeping the old flag flying. Anyway, like I said, nice to see ya,....to see ya Nice............hang in there
