What do you want on Gobusker?

Hi people, sorry if we've been a bit quiet lately, we have been knee-deep in discussions sorting out the way forward.  We are meeting with the new developers on Tuesday, and would love to have some input from you.  So, what features would you like to see on Gobusker?  What should go? What should stay, and where and how do you think things could improve and make the busker experience more satisfying for all?  What would help the artists, and what would make things more fun for the fans?  Have a good old think about it over the weekend..... let us have your comments by Monday, and we'll give away an Ipod Shuffle for the best suggestion/s.  So, simply respond to this post or email us at info@obusker.com
    Keep Busking...

My answer is so simple. Stop giving away rewards as incentives for posting on the site, and get it sorted!

Re: What do you want on Gobusker?

To be able to upload more than 3 songs for starters, get rid of chat room no one uses it, try and get a venue on board for showcases maybe once every month or two have a go busker night???? it will make the site feel tangible, I know people come from all over the country so perhaps a solution to this would be to have people in charge of regions and have more than one venue i.e noreth east, north west, midlands, south east/london etc... This would helpm artists play thier material to the public under the go busker flag so to speak a little like emergenza, just athought.

Potentially we could run a gig in Leeds if that helps.

I keep banging on about it but have the ability to change songs without losing your plays,,,,sort it out! lol

As well as the obvious things like classifieds, reviews etc., a nice idea would be to have a section where musicians could upload unfinished tracks for other muso's to add to. Kind of like an 'online collaboration' whereby projects could be created by the community. I'm sure this would make the site a lot of fun for the musicians. There's an American site doing this http://www.musicianscollaboration.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=2e5e1b62a4827f75c25eb3e1ac4ad6e9;www which will give you an idea of the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Thanks for your comments so far people.  Had a quick look at the site you mentioned Jon, looks interesting, I'm going to join and see how easy it is to get involved.  Have you done any work with them, and how easy/successful was it?

Re: What do you want on Gobusker?

Probably a bit late for the ipod competition but why not have artist of the month as voted by fans and also when a new song has been posted fans can vote for new song of the month.  More than 3 songs would be nice as would a little more space for our profiles.

... and maybe a gig tab (with the home, register, forums etc) so you can just click on and see who has gigs that month and where

ooh and make peoples comments on songs part of the profile

Cheers everyone for the suggestions and comments.  I've been 'down-under' for the last couple of weeks, but while I've been away, some clever-heads have been hard at it working on the NEW gobusker.... keep watching...

I'll keep watching Ma, but I won't hold my breath. Is it just me or does this site seem a bit dead lately? ...maybe I'm just missing the point...

Re: What do you want on Gobusker?

Regular updates from the crew on how the site is progressing would be good, and although there's some great music posted on the site there's nothing really to keep the artists coming back; the amount of feedback on music posted is poor. Plenty more sites like this one seem to have nailed it. What gobusker needs is that certain something to build up a regular user community to make it a worthwhile site.

Re: What do you want on Gobusker?

I have no idea at all why Entropik and Striking Poses participate in this dead site! It is moribund and when there is activity it has a certain bias by the site organizers. Please just delete our profiles.

Re: What do you want on Gobusker?

Hey Guys, we're really sorry that you feel that way, we love having you around but will respect your wishes.  We know things are quiet at the moment, we're deliberately keeping a low profile and holding back on PR and activity because we don't think that the site delivers on a lot of the technical aspects and functionality.  In line with everyone's feedback, there are a lot of features we want to see added before we do any more serious promotional work or run any further competitions.  This work is currently in-hand, and there is a new horizon to look forward to (excuse us waxing lyrical), but as has always been the case, we're at the mercy of developers.  We're a bit confused on the bias issue?  Sorry if we've ever given that impression, we're an eclectic bunch ourselves, and there is none intended by anyone.  We wish you the very best of luck with your music, you are ve
