some words about me
I'm Male, 42 years old and I live in cambridge, Great Britain. I'm generally interested in Music,Motorbikes.
Here is my biography: Well, I started my music career aged just 11 years old. It all began with me playing the flute. Now in those days you either played the pipes, drums or flute. That hobby is somewhat still going today. When I go home to N, Ireland I try to get involved with a local band and have a laugh.
In 1984 my dad who was the manager of a local showcase band called Bang Bang bought me a guitar. A fender telecaster no less and from that points the guitar was my main love. I played it every day. I also at the same time was a DJ in my mum’s mobile disco, which was a laugh.
Not much later I put an add in the local paper, found a couple of guys to jam with and we formed my first band Craven Angel. The McCombe brothers Heath and Dean were with out doubt talented to the core. We practiced every day and loved it. This is were I changed to playing bass guitar owing to the fact we couldn’t find a bass player, and I was know were near as good as Heath .We gigged as much as we could And had great fun
In 1987 I had enuff of the troubles and pissed off to England with my girlfriend Elaine who is now my wife.I spent some time in small bands but never found my feet until in 1989 I read an add in the Cambridge paper. This was the start of what I think was the best band I’ve played in Hope”n”Glory.
The singer/guitarist and main man was Richie Van Jupp. We clicked like a well-oiled clock. The drummer was a guy they called The Furf. A quiet guy but fucking vicious on the drums. Next to arrive after me was Jimmy Miller, one of the sweetest players on a guitar I have ever met. Hair like the hair bears bunch and a belly that was always empty. As a band we had all we needed to make the big time, looks, image, songs and pure raw talent. Some of the songs we were writing were powerful and full of harmonic vocals and riffs. If there was one moment in time I could turn back to and do again this is it. I loved H”n”G. It was a passion of 4 people that I helped create. What happened, well one word?
GRUNGE. It took over and hammered all the nails in our coffin.
You mite says if we were good enuff we would have made it no matter what. WRONG. Grunge ruined it for thousands of rock bands. 10 years after we started it fell apart, just like that, gone forever.
Richie and myself joined up with a local band called Roxoff and played every weekend for 4 years. It was what you mite call a hell of a journey. The drummer in the band was a guy called Ace Finchum whos fame lays with Tigertailz from Wales.
He brought the best and the rest out of me and made me what I am as a Bass player today.
During this time myself and Richie got tighter than a flies hole. Our vocal harmonies were so good and we could hold a note like Dot Cotton holding a fag.
From 1999- 2003 I was writing a lot of material and needed to get it out some how. It wasn’t possible with Roxoff so with a lot thought I decided to look else were.It was a hard hard thing to do leaving the bond I had with Richie but I was hungry to see my music out there. At this point I hand written up to 13 songs, some shit but some hot shit. The songs that stood out were Maximum Power Take it to the edge, Girl on a pedestal and Need your love.
So in 2003 again I answered an add in Kerrang. The band, Drugdealer Cheerleader from London. I initially did enjoy it but the finance and travelling took its toll. We did do a lot of gigging tho and had some great support tours, Enuff z Nuff, (2 tours) Pretty Boy Floyd, Robin Black, Tigertailz, Bang Tango, Crash Kelly, Vixen and Mondo generator. We also headlined our own tours around the country. It was on a stage Scotland in 2005 that I decided that was it, Enuff. I got back home and made the manager aware of my feelings ”again I might add".I tried to leave months before but was talked into staying with promises of change. It never happened. I left the band in June 2005.
This is when I turned to writing and recording in my own studio.
I took great pride in my song writing and put a lot of time and effort into it. I would always bring a complete song to the table, Guitars, lead guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, vocals, the lot. And it was rarely changed but at times it did and always for the better. During my time in DdCL I wrote most of the new songs, I don’t wana go to school, fireworks, sweet 16(try to be me) Take it to the edge,Girl on a pedistal. As well as that i had input in writing songs like Britans Great, Happening now, etc
This is when my time in DdCL became a pain in the ass to deal with. DdCL in there own wisdom decided to claim all the songs I wrote either before, during and after as the bands property. They give songs like fireworks and Girl on a pedestal away wily nilly. Never asked me told me or give me any credit until I got involved. They released I don’t wana go to school as a single and ripped off Sweet 16(There song Try to be me) as a B-side. They swore blind T,T,B,M was there song and that they wrote it after I had gone, That was until I heard it and on there request sent proof to them. That’s the last I heard from them on this song until out of the blue my name appeared on the credits.
Funny that????????
I’m not saying anymore on that subject for legal reasons, but time is with me on this one. And I can’t wait.
To date I have written 32 songs and I have plans to release on down load only 4 tracks and one with a video. (Watch this space).
At the moment I am working as a Sound Engineer and a songwriter for a company in Cambridge. I write songs, intro, music interludes record voice over’s etc, for companies connected to us. I also write music at home in my spare time for companies or business in the need of a good sound track.
So if your in the need,,
Call me.
